the bode miller experiment
Those of you either avoiding the Olympics, or not watching them in the US, have probably missed the fuss that started immediately before the Olympics about US skier Bode Miller suggesting that he had skied (is that the correct spelling?) while either hung over or plastered.
I'd have thought that this was the least surprising announcement ever but of course since in this country, millionaire (and less wealthy) athletes are supposed to not reflect the general population -- i.e., be completely honest, sober, kind, tolerant, industrious, helpful to old ladies about to cross the street, and all the other stuff that the rest of us can't manage despite having to spend less time on obsessive training and competition regimes -- so of course we can't have that. Oh no, what a bad example etc., etc.
Well, thanks to the kind of can-do thinking that built America, someone has risen to the challenge of putting Bode's claims to the test. You can see the results at the Bode Miller Experiment, Part II on Noobsports.com.
