This Bud's not for you
There was an entertaining story in the Wall Street Journal about the trouble that Anheuser Busch (makers of Budweiser) is having in Germany with the run-up to the World Cup. They've paid $40 million for sponsorship rights and until recently hadn't even been able to refer to the beer as "Bud" because of concerns about confusion with "Bit" or Bitburger, never mind some of their other trademark problems.
Anyway, Anheuser Busch got permission to use the name "Bud" by buying off Bitburger in the form of allowing them to sell beer at world cup games, but in the meantime people in Germany are apparently happy that they won't have to drink the official swill of World Cup 2006... one student was so exercise he created a site called BudOut.de -- he was quoted in the article as saying,"I am not anti-American. This is just the worst beer you could imagine." Amen brother.
