It was reasonably mild today so we took the girls to the zoo, and spent far more time than I would have liked in the great-ape house. There was an enormous male gorilla sitting next to the glass trying to ignore eye-contact. I was only too happy to oblige; there's something about gawking at animals only a few DNA strands away from being human that gives me the creeps.

postscript: I finally had a chance to field-test the windproof fleece jacket -- it worked like a charm.
