worm store and giant animals
Last night as the girls were playing in the bathtub, L announced that she had two shimmery, glimmery worms, and that she had "bought them at the Worm Store, which was near Bethesda. You know, it has a big sign outside, and you turn right when you see it, and they have worms there. It's near Bethesda..."
Because heaven knows there wouldn't be a worm store in Bethesda.

We went to the Montgomery County Agricultural fair on Saturday, partly because the weather was fantastic and partly to further R's campaign to have the children see animals other than what you get in a zoo. They seemed pretty interested, but in the pig section there was a huge male who was grunting away and trying to jump over the fence of his enclosure... Poor Rr burst into tears because she had no way of telling that he wasn't going to make it out...
Then later in the day we were in a pet shop admiring various small creatures, and walked by the drop off for the kennel that the shop also runs. There was a dog waiting (on the other side of a glass door) which was the size of a very large Lab, and which started jumping up and down when he saw us -- literally bouncing so that his head was at the same height as mine. L and I wandered by, but poor Rr was completely stymied -- I had to turn back and pick her up; I suspect that the only reason she wasn't crying was sheer horror!
