strange behaviour

R & I were scheduled to have dinner out with 3 other couples on Saturday night, at a proper restaurant (and very good it was too).

That put us in an expansive mood, so we suggested in the late afternoon to L that we go to get some hot chocolate at the nearby Starbucks. L loves hot chocolate, which she calls "cocoa" religiously after having been converted by ursine story book sensation Little Bear.

In any case, L took that opportunity to have the most spectacular fit about the pre-departure preparations (putting on shoes and other outrages). She was this close to being banned from leaving the house, but rallied. This is the part of having a 3 year old that baffles me -- they are so out of hand emotionally that they will blow up even the things that they like to do. But as R says, there is no rational "why" for this behaviour at this age.

The hot chocolate was very good, by the way, and both girls were impeccably behaved once we got them out of the house.
